汕頭


聞いたことありますか？
普通の日本人には多分聞き覚えがない地名。

でも玩具の仕事に係る人々には、
ファッション関係者における原宿くらい
無視できない場所になっています。


細かい統計はないのであくまで私見ですが、
いま日本で販売しているおもちゃの3割以上は
中国の汕頭の澄海という街で作られたものです。


なぜここが玩具生産の一大拠点になったのか、
私にはいまだに謎なのですが、
10数年前この街は玩具バブルに沸き上がりました。


とにかく玩具は儲かる！


なんせ、数か月前には薄汚れたタンクトップで
昼から白酒飲んでほろ酔い加減で自転車漕いでたおっさんが、
ロレックス着けてベンツに乗ってブランデー飲んでるんですから・・・

ちょっとしたゴールドラッシュ。

猫も杓子も皆、目指せおもちゃやです。


ある日、澄海にいつも通り仕入れに向かったところ、
ウチのエージェントがいつもと違う商社に私たちを連れていきました。


当時汕頭での仕入れは

　1.バイヤー（海外から来たカモ）をどこぞの商社のショールームに連れていく
　2.各メーカーのセールスマンがその商社の入り口に並ぶ
　3.順番にバイヤーにサンプル見せながら商談

という手順で進められていました。


が、しかし。


問題は2番。

ちょっと想像してみましょうよ・・・
整然と商社の前に整列する中国人の姿を・・・


無理だよね。
あり得ない。
並ぶわけないよ。

長くなったので続きます。

Did you know about that?
Well, for ordinary Japanese then it probably doesn't sound familiar place name.


But for the one who involved in toy work, it is a place that can't be ignored as far as Harajuku is concerned by fashion staffs.


Since there aren't any detailed statistics, it's just my personal opinion, but more than 30% of the toys currently selling in Japan were made in the town named Shantou in Chenghai, China.

It's still a mystery to me why this town became such major basis of toy production, but the bubble toys were arose in this town 10 years ago.


Anyway toys are profitable!


You see, a few months ago, a dirty tank top old man were drinking cheap Chinese wine from noon then riding bicycle while a bit drunk. But now he's wearing Rolex, driving Benz and drinking Brandy ...
Such like he found gold mine.

Everyone is aiming at toys.


One day, as always I went to purchase products at Chenghai, however our agent brought us to a different trading company as usual.


At that time stocking goods in Shantou is like

 1. Buyers (maybe from overseas) will be brought to the showroom of trading companies.
 2. Salesmen of each manufacturer lined up at the entrance of that trading company.
 3. Negotiate while showing samples to buyers.

It was proceeded by following above procedures.


But then again.

The problem is no. 2, let's imagine a bit...
Chinese people who line up in front of a well-ordered trading company...

It's impossible, right?
There no way!
How can I line up!
